The problem
Finding information online about places to eat out is a challenging task in Moldova. Apps like Google Maps, Foursquare or Tripadvisor provide a fragmented experience with little to no information at all. As a result, smaller businesses lack digital exposure, whilst bigger brands fail to retain loyal customers.
The solution
Yum Places takes the intermediary role between restaurant-goers and venue owners. The mobile app helps restaurant-goers discover places and provide the necessary information about them.
Navigation
The app packs a lot of features and good navigation was a top priority when designing the UI. The first iterations used a “hamburger menu”.
But following poor discoverability criticism we opted for Material Design’s app bar with Search, Basket and Settings features. In addition to the app bar, the main screen includes 4 tabs: Explore, Newsfeed, Promos and User profile.
